As part of preparations for the new Support at Home program launching on 1 July 2025, the Australian Government has released a summary of indicative prices for most services. These prices reflect what many Home Care Package (HCP) providers expect to charge under the new program, based on a national survey conducted in February 2025.

What Are Indicative Prices?

These are not fixed prices or government-set fees. They provide a guide to what providers across Australia anticipate charging, based on survey responses from over 300 HCP providers — more than one-third of all providers nationally.

These prices can help consumers and families:

  • Understand how their provider’s fees compare with others
  • Make informed choices about care services
  • Plan for future service agreements

Important Notes

  • The prices listed do not include co-contributions – what you pay personally will depend on your means assessment and the type of service.
  • No co-contributions will apply to clinical care services.
  • A co-contribution calculator will be available soon to help you estimate your out-of-pocket costs.

What Happens Next?

In the lead-up to 1 July 2025:

  • Your current provider will contact you to explain any pricing changes.
  • You’ll receive a new service agreement outlining the services and associated prices.
  • You can choose whether to accept the agreement or explore other providers.

If you’re unsure or uncomfortable with any changes, you’re not obligated to accept the agreement. However, to continue receiving services under Support at Home, you will need a signed agreement with a provider.

Considering a Change?

You have the freedom to switch providers at any time, before or after the program launches. There are no entry or exit fees if you change providers.

If you’re thinking about switching, make sure you:

  • Confirm the start date with your new provider
  • Set a cessation date with your current provider to ensure continuity of care

What If a Price Seems High?

A provider charging above the indicative range isn’t necessarily overcharging. However, it’s okay to ask:

  • What’s included in the service at that price?
  • Why is it higher than others?
  • Will this affect the amount or frequency of services you receive?

The government has built strong consumer protections into the Support at Home program to ensure pricing remains fair, transparent, and accountable.
