Understanding PRODA and Services Australia

What is PRODA?

Provider Digital Access, or PRODA for short, is an essential tool for NDIS providers. It’s a government system that allows secure online access to important services. Most importantly, PRODA verifies and authenticates your identity for various tasks, including new client registrations, NDIS audits, invoicing and more.

PRODA’s Role in the NDIS

As an NDIS-registered provider, you’ll need to use PRODA to manage your work. There are two PRODA portals that you’ll use: the myplace provider portal and the NDIS Commission Portal. Here’s how they work.

myplace Provider Portal

The myplace provider portal allows registered providers to view and manage their services with a participant, including:

  • Requesting payments for services provided to participants,
  • Managing and viewing details of agreements with participants,
  • Viewing registration details, and
  • Instant messaging participants.

NDIS Commission Portal

While you’re unlikely to use the NDIS Commission Portal as often as the myplace provider portal, it’s still an important tool for NDIS providers. You’ll use the NDIS Commission Portal to:

  • Manage your NDIS registration details,
  • Lodge audits,
  • Submit behaviour support plans, and
  • Register incident reports.

Registering as an NDIS Provider

How to Sign Up with PRODA and Get Started

To get started with PRODA, you’ll need to create an account on the PRODA registration page. As part of the registration process, you’ll need to:

  • Enter your details as they appear on your identity documents,
  • Create your login details,
  • Create a username and password,
  • Select 3 security questions and provide the answers, and
  • Verify your personal email address.

Before you can access any services, you’ll need to verify your identity using three separate documents. You’ll be provided with a list of documents to select from, and you can only use each document once.

Lastly, you’ll need to match your PRODA account to the service you provide. Once you’ve linked your services, your PRODA account will be good to go.

Becoming a Registered Provider

As a registered provider, you can use the NDIS Commission Portal to manage your NDIS registration and meet your obligations and requirements. The portal is only available to providers that have registered with the NDIS Commission.

To become a registered NDIS provider, you must register through the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (NDIS Commission). Once you’re registered, you can create a PRODA account to access the myplace portal.

Navigating the myplace Provider Portal

Step-by-Step Guides for Using the Portal

The NDIS has created a number of step-by-step guides to help you navigate the myplace portal. Whether you’re looking to update your contact details, manage service bookings or create payment requests, you should be able to find all the information you need to get the most out of your myplace portal.

Assigning Access for Other Staff in Your Organisation

In order to allow myplace access for other staff within the organisation, they’ll need to first nominate a Primary Contact. This contact is responsible for approving myplace access requests from other users within the organisation. However, before users can access the organisational myplace provider portal, they’ll need to have their own PRODA account.

Managing NDIS Services and Payments

NDIS Provider Services Available through PRODA

You can use PRODA to access the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) myPlace Provider Portal and NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Provider Portal. You’ll need to log in via your PRODA account to access NDIS services.

You can read more about these services on the NDIS Commission website.

Plan Managers and Payment Claims

A plan manager is responsible for managing payment requests on behalf of their participants. As a plan manager, you can use the NDIS provider portal to submit payment requests and make changes to a participant’s plan. These requests will be sent to the participant’s NDIS contact. From here, you’ll be able to view the status of your request in the NDIS provider portal.

Reporting and Notifications

Creating Reports on the myplace Provider Portal

NDIS providers can create reports in the myplace Provider Portal for participants with plans in the new computer system. These reports are used to help providers reconcile their claims and payments, review notifications and view information for the participants they support. While providers can access and download all report types, the amount of information shown depends on the their role and the participant’s consent.

Provider Learning Environment

The NDIS has created the provider learning environment to help providers learn how to use the new my NDIS provider portal. Their collection of walk-through tutorials provide a step-by-step approach to help you familiarise yourself with the new system and processes. To access the my NDIS provider portal, you’ll just need to have an existing PRODA account.
